Installing the Modpack

Install the Modrinth App and the shared StoneHavenSMP Fabric instance so your client matches the server.

StoneHavenSMP uses a shared Fabric modpack. Everyone should play on the same curated instance so recipes, travel, voice chat, and quality-of-life features stay consistent.

Before you begin

  • A valid Minecraft Java Edition account
  • A computer that can run modern Fabric with a reasonable memory allocation
  • Access to the StoneHaven Discord for the current install links and announcements

Install the Modrinth App

  1. Download the Modrinth App

Download the official Modrinth App from modrinth.com/app(opens in a new tab).

  2. Sign in with your Microsoft / Minecraft account

The launcher needs access to your Java Edition profile to launch the game.

  3. Confirm Java is available

StoneHavenSMP’s hosting environment uses Java 25 on the server side. For your client, use the Java version recommended by the Modrinth instance or Discord announcements. If launch fails, see Troubleshooting.

Install the StoneHavenSMP shared instance

  1. Open the shared instance link

Open Discord and go to 📚 StoneHaven Guide → 📦 Latest Modpack Download. Use the official StoneHaven Modrinth share link posted there (Members only).

  2. Create / import the instance in Modrinth

Follow the Modrinth prompts to add the instance to your library. Keep the instance name recognizable, such as “StoneHavenSMP”.

  3. Launch once offline from the world menu if needed

Let the instance finish downloading mods and assets before connecting.

  4. Allocate a sensible amount of memory

Many players do well starting around 4–6 GB, then adjusting based on performance. Avoid giving Minecraft nearly all of your system RAM.

Connect to StoneHavenSMP

  1. Confirm you have been allowlisted (How to Join).
  2. Launch the StoneHavenSMP instance.
  3. Add server: play.stonehavensmp.com
  4. Join on Java Edition 26.2.

Extra client-side mods

You do not have to ask staff before installing client-side mods, especially those that enhance the playing experience without breaking the game. Client-side mods that do not affect server compatibility may be added at your own discretion.

Still avoid:

  • Radar, X-ray, or other unfair advantage mods
  • Extra mods that break joining or conflict with the shared pack

If an added client mod causes problems, remove it and test with the shared instance alone before asking for help.

Optional pack features such as Simple Voice Chat and Iris are documented in the Mod List. Keep optional pack pieces aligned with the versions expected by the shared instance.
